HoW IT ALL STARTED

Born in New York City, Martin Muniz Jr, surrounded by a heavy Latin culture from both mother and father's side ; to a Puerto Rican Father and a Panamanian mother. Although his father was 1st generation Puerto Rican – American, his father was brought up on the original hip hop culture and was a b-boy.  With the fusion of both Hip Hop and Latin cultures, it is safe to say Marty has always been versatile. He always had an ear for music even at an early age. He would play instruments at church and was always intrigued by percussive instruments. He later joined the stage and marching band in elementary school and carried it all the way through high school.

His interest for the art of DJing was born at an early age when his father would tell him stories of the "jams” and “battles" his crew would have in places all over the tri-state area. These memorable events  withheld a live DJ cutting and scratching  while the 2 crews battled. Later on through Martins' journey of pursuing  his djing dream, his older brother purchased a CD mixer to earn some side money while he was home from active duty in the army. So, when his brother went away, Marty took advantage as much as possible and would sneak into his room to sharpen his skills every chance he could. Unfortunately, his parents later divorced and he decided to stay with his mom. She could never afford to buy him the equipment he wanted, so he spent his time using what he had while  visiting music and record stores; setting personal goals. Marty eventually was able to fend for himself and bought himself the equipment necessary to really sharpen his skills and he became hooked!

In present day, he is one of the most passionate DJs in the nightlife industry and still remains humble and knows he has dues to pay. He has gained the respect of many NYC Radio DJs and has worked alongside a bunch of them. With aspirations of being on FM radio, he strives to continue to master his craft and have the world know who Marty Rock is.  He makes it his absolute priority to widen his knowledge of music in all genres while always keeping the culture of turntablism and DJing alive.  No matter where, and no matter how many people are in attendance, he will make every time he DJs  absolutely memorable.

Since he started DJing at clubs in 2012, he has made his way into NYC’s and NJ’s biggest venues.  He said he will not stop focusing on his future career until his turntables have taken him around the world. Even after that fact, he will continue to do what he loves till higher powers no longer permit him to.
